Delete your account

The fastest way: in the app

1. Open OBLIQ and go to Settings.
2. Tap Account, then Delete account.
3. Confirm with your password. Deletion happens immediately, on all your devices.

Why the web form works differently

An OBLIQ account is not linked to a name, a phone number or an email address. The only proof that an account is yours is its username and password. That protects you: nobody can delete your account just by claiming it is theirs.

So a request sent from this page does not delete anything on its own. We mark the account, and the next time someone signs in to it, OBLIQ asks them to confirm or cancel the deletion. If nobody confirms within 30 days, the request expires and nothing is deleted.

What is deleted

• Your profile: display name, photo and "About" text.
• Your encryption keys, so nothing sent to the old account can ever be read.
• Your contacts, groups and devices.
• Your encrypted backups, call history and any messages still waiting for delivery.

What stays

• Messages you already sent remain on the devices of the people who received them, the same as a letter already mailed.
• Your username is retired. We keep a record that it existed, so nobody else can take it and pretend to be you. That record is linked to nothing else.
• System backups are encrypted and clear within 7 days.
• Subscriptions bought through Apple or Google are billed by them. Cancel in your App Store or Google Play settings first.
